Just removed the locating arm for the lower control arm. I noticed that the curved washers are mounted differently on the rubber grommets. Is this an error from assembly at the factory do you think? The washer on the left seems to be installed correctly.  The one on the right looks to be installed backwards. I would think it should cup the rubber grommet like the one on the left.  The one on the passenger side is the same. Thanks guys.

Strut rods, and those are the strut rod bushings.
No, those look correct (without my double-checking the below link that shows factory pictures) Here's a post showing how AMC intended them to be.

It depends if you have one piece of two piece strut rod bushings OR if they are Moog replacements. One the factory bushings, either style, the washers are seperate on the Moog bushings the washers are integral to the bushing halves.

That's why I linked to the factory TSB...... which shows both original styles.
If one has MOOG replacements one needs to follow the sheet that comes with them. In this case, he's showing not new, but existing - although they COULD be replacements. These are factory replacements correctly placed on the strut rods for my 73 -  |

Ok, thanks guys. Bill, the TSB drawings helped immensely. The car is a 1971 with a build date of 10/70. These are the original strut rods. It looks like I'll need to switch these around then. They are installed the opposite as is shown in the TSB.  |
