So my '77 Gremlin had a 258 with manual transmission. The transmission was gone when I bought the car and the 258 has been sold to a Jeep guy. I have installed 401/TH400 out of a Wagoneer. I need to wire in the neutral safety switch and reverse lights for the B&M quicksilver shifter I am putting in. I need them functional for the dragstrip inspection, so any help here is appreciated. I have a wiring diagram that shows some of the wiring I need to splice into, but I can't locate any of the correct wires on the car. So, can anyone tell me where to find the correct wires to use for both the neutral safety switch and the reverse lights?
Thanks, xGremlinx

The instructions for you shifter show the switches are mounted to it.
Wiring diagrams can be found here: Take a look at your start solenoid, If it has a blue or blue white single wire off the back, that's your NSS and should be hooked up to the shifter switch. Go through the wiring diagrams and see what you have. That blue or blue/white wire looks to go to to a connection that includes your reverse light indicator. It may be as simple as following the wires to a connector and taking them to your new shifter.

I dont have a diagram but I would think a manual trans car would have had a clutch switch. Under the dash near where the pedal assy was, I would guess it has been bypassed, if so equipt you could install a relay grounded through your shifter. Or you could install a starter solenoid for an automatic trans car. They have a terminal on the back that needs grounded for it to work. You could ground it through your shifter. Reverse wiring should have run under the car to a switch on the original manual trans. You will need to find it, it might have been run through a hole in the floor. I would use a relay and have shifter control relay.
