good to see you are doing it right. I have bought way too many cars that have been "welded" with expanding foam and filler

curious RebelMachine,

Which wire feed machine do you have, what wire are you using and what shield gas?

Thanks

I've got a Miller 130XP I bought new almost 20 years ago. For wire I use 0.023" (which I can't seem to find) for sheet metal, 0.030" for thicker stuff. Shielding gas is 75% Argon 25% Carbon Dioxide. Get it filled at the local welding shop.

Amazon has INEFIL AWS ER70S-6 .023” Copper-Coated Solid Mig Welding Wire in a 2 Lb spool for $11.99 w/ Prime delivery.

Since the Megastreet 401 is out of my hands for the moment I've had time to do more metalwork on the Machine.

Finished plug welds on the underside of the driver's side repair panel. Would like to get it on a rotisserie and work the underside a bit better. I'm not good at welding upside-down. Had to form the area that meets the rear valance as it didn't quite line up.

Repaired a section of the lower rear glass area with a piece of the NOS quarter I sectioned in earlier in the restoration.

I beg to differ. You have above average welding and body skills.

People have re-acted to the knowledge that I have a wire-feed in my garage with "Oh, you can weld?" I respond with "I have a welder." Wink

Got the panel in and smoothed out the welds. Ran out of welding wire while I was plug welding the wheel arch. Need to plug weld the trunk drop seam also.

You guys give me far too much praise, I'm just a hobbyist hoping the effort results in a very nice car.

Should have the quarter burned in all the way tomorrow. Got sidetracked with another project today.

This is real body work done right...This is the type of a job that would lay in a shop and would be worked on when they were slow to keep the price down...And the painted shell would exceed 30k for sure ...My friend just finished a 69 Camaro with a total bill of 215,000 big ones and the cust. was happy to pay it
