Me TOO, Kieth. Its the best deal; as he was the one who did all the measurements. I have faith in him, he has worked on other cars for me and always has done an excellent job. Thanks for your offer too. You we very high on my short list. Having AMC Fun, Ollie |

Just got back from the NSRA Tampa Show and Thomas called and told me to come over and take a look at my Fatman front end.
We discussed how he would do the shock towers......... He has to lower the steering column. The bent will be to tight to connect........... He rounded off the corner by the shock tower on the passenger side so I can move the battery tray. He is going to cut the shock tower and make some removable plates that screw on so you can have access for alignment. The 14" wheels are not going to clear the calibers. I had figured that. I am planning on 16" or 17" wheels and tires. Thomas figures that he should be done Monday or Tuesday next week. I am very satisfied at this point. I think we are looking at a mighty cool upgrade. Why not convert the lower part of that column with a couple of U joints and a new shaft so it makes it easier to hook up and not have to move the column? Looks good in there. Wait till you drive it though! It'll be worth every penny.

Thats what i suggested too, maybe a couple of them. Thomas said you cannot exceed 35 degrees in the joint. He's got the plan, so I said you got my blessing. I did take over the dash because i got it fitting good and he said no problem. The way he is going to make the shock tower covers, its going to look like a factory setup. I am excited too Kieth. I have not made a trip over to the rod shop to look at The 69 but i know that work is progressing.
I did work on the hood. Got my hood scoop put on. It was a shocking easy install. The rubber gasket made it a snap. The gasket is vacuum hose with a slit in it. This is the "metal work" Four holes and a slit in the body line ridge. Wire brushed the underside clean; sanded and primed both sides. I really love the hood scoop. I think that it will be such a big psychological boost for "The 69" that he will run like he has had 200 h.p. added to his 258. Looks as if I will have to make a pass at the AMC Races in Cordova just to prove this is a fact !!!!!! Having AMC Fun, Ollie

The 69 is home from the Rod Shop and i think that Thomas did a fantastic job !!
Sure is alot more room in the engine compartment with the shock towers gone. Still alot of work to do. Hook up the brakes, pack the bearings, calibers, torque all the A frame bolts, etc. All Thomas did was mount and the steering column. Plan now is to paint the hood and deck lid and rear quarter panels. Once all the painting is done engine bay and front end is next. I found a great web site about tire sizes. You punch in existing sizes and it super imposes the new over the old. Looks as if I am going with 17" X 7" wheels and 215/60R/17 tires. Thats a long way off. My issue now will be clearance on the rear tires, not the front. Having AMC Fun, Ollie |
