I use Harbor Freight HVLP with .014 tips. I buy them with $9.99 coupons. Usually 6 at a time.

I use one for a  primer gun a few times, just clean the gun and use the replacement cups.

When I paint topcoat I use one time and throw away.

I find that cheaper than buying gun cleaner.

Today has been a rough day in the AMC business for me.

"The Rambler" was being a bit flaky with me concerning the ignition switch..........

Now on to "The 69". My Dakota Digital Dash Cluster arrived so i am going to work on that. I am not a rocket scientist but i know you cannot put a round peg in a square hole and vice versa.........Ermm

I am shook up at Dakota Digital, as i have read all their manuals regarding the dash cluster. The say in all the material that the mounting hole is 11" X 4". Now thats a oblong hole. They show the template in the installation manual as being oblong.

The actual dash cluster is rounded off at the ends but i figure it must be made to overlap the square corners. I cut my dash accordingly.

The black in this picture is the exact shape of the cluster........Angry

Back to the round peg on a square hole story.........Wacko

I thought better of Dakota Digital !!!!  Anyway when I purchased the aluminum i bought 2 pieces in case I messed up.

Here are the results......

The area to the left of the cluster will be the headlight, wiper and fan over-ride switches.

Put on the door handles.

Oh, it's 11x4, but they should have specified that it has rounded corners. Still looks great!

The wife has a Verizon cell phone and every week they send her a blast from the past, pictures she took one year ago. Check this out.......the day we acquired a new family member...The 69.

It seems that winter has returned again and it sure has thrown a monkey wrench in my plans. . I was planning on taking my door windows over to the tint shop and when i call Greg said it is to cold to do it. He told me they really need 3 days to cure good and tonight its supposed to be in the low 20's, so lets hold off a few days......

I decided to work on the door panels........

After a good cleaning.......they look good.....

Repairing the cardboard with some 2 part epoxy glue...

I re glued the edges with contact cement and have some weight sitting on it now. Tomorrow i will paint them.

Having AMC Fun,
Ollie

Back on track.......got all the glass over to Greg to tint. He will have it done by Friday before quitting time.

Also ran down my water blaster guy and met him. His name is Eddie and he will come to the house to blast my engine compartment and hood. He moved into a shop next to my mechanic buddy Pete.

Kinda slow moving with the cold blast but did get the door panels painted...

Sure is great living with a "car gal" who doesn't mind a bit of living room decoration........

Hope to have all the side windows and door panels installed this weekend.

Having AMC Fun,
Ollie
