How big can you go? Have a 255 right now, would like to go 275. Might require trimming the fender lip.

Seems an 8" wide rim with a 5" backspacing will locate the tire best. Unfortunately I can't find one I like.

Anyone running something that works?

Thanks,
-Steve-

I've got a 69 Javelin and can run a 275 50 15 ET drag radial with ease.  I couldn't find a rim with the correct back spacing so I went with a Centerline with a GM stud pattern that was right, pulled the axles and had them drilled to accept the new stud pattern.  Not sure if the AMX's are different clearance wise or not so don't take my word as gospel but what I've done works for me great.  IIRC I'm using a 9" rim and 4.5 to 5" backspace.
