I think I saw where you can buy a 71-74 heater core and cut/modify the plate on the lines and use it in a 68-69 amx, is that true? The dimensions are the same I believe

Long ago, I had given my dimensions for such a venture. The op had brazed the old brackets to the new core. From what what I gather that is all that was needed. Not sure If bending of pipes for fitting through fire was was needed, let alone if 71 and 72 or 73 and 74 cores were used.

If you look at the heater core that apd sells, it's the same one that other sites show that DO NOT fit a 68-70 which makes me think you can make the later models work. Apd shows 68-74 amx for the fitment.

This is an older post, but wanted to see if anyone had used the 71-74 heater core and modified it for 68-70 AMX use.  If so, what does it take to make it work.

I ended up using a 71-74 core. I used a propane torch to unsolder the metal bracket. Use just enough heat to get the btacket off, don't want to break the solder dhete the tubes go into the core.Worked great.

I don't know, but I have a box full of 68-70 heater cores that were removed from running AMX's and put into storage 30+ years ago if anyone wants to go that route.

SOLD (2) @ $40.00/each + actual shipping, no charge for packing, (3) available
