The bracket kit arrived on Wednesday, I got time Friday morning to test fit it some, as it's the day my office observes Veteran's Day. Thank you for your service goes out to all Veterans.

Down to business.

The kit I happened onto is designed for a 71 to 73 Mustang Fastback part number 10556. Summit showed another kit with a different part number that appeared similar but I can't answer if it is or not.

The brackets appear to be correct. The tangs that go under the trim for the tie down plate assembly may be a bit too long, I didn't go that far into that part as it's only 15 degrees Fahrenheit here today and I won't be attaching anything permanent anyway because the double sided 3M tape doesn't adhere very well in cold temperatures, and of course the tangs can be trimmed.

The angle for the tang that the 1/4 turn fastener inserts into on the tie down plate assembly appears to be a bit off, but there again easily cured, just bend the tang a bit more. The biggest problem I found so far is the hole in the clip is too small for the leading knob on the male part of the 1/4 turn fastener that's on the shade itself. That sucks, although now I know the name of the manufacturer and I plan on contacting them for assistance with that. The instructions mention that a call can be placed to Willpak for additional parts.

I tried calling, I am thinking because it's across the Canada border the calls failed for both numbers. I guess it's email or nothing.

The hinge bracket appears as though it will work as well. The fasteners supplied with the kit are made of plastic, I was confused about that at first because the Sport Shade I found still had one of the hinge bolts with it and it is steel. Then I thought, what do you want to wear out, the fastener (easily replaced) or the holes in the hinge arms, I dunno......

Spring is a long ways off, I won't know 100% for sure until then if it all works out. I do feel a lot more encouraged about the whole deal rather than how I felt about hoping the guy I bought the shades from would come through for me with the brackets. We've all been there.

Sorry I cannot be more positive about this

Did you mean GMC?

Interesting - those look like the same parts used on the SX4 louvers..... bet they are from the same company and that company made them for all sorts of cars.
Likely many of the parts aren't model specific - louvers, yes, brackets - not all of them are specific is my guess.

I have other photos but what I have for parts matches almost exactly those shown above.

Thanks Bill,

I did a search on converting Hornet/Concord louvers to a 71 Javelin but only this thread came up with any useful info. I know that guys have done this before but the search isn't finding anything, or maybe it's me

I've been trying to find the female receptacle clip that fits the 1/4 turn pin fastener that's on the Sport Shades louvers that fit the White70Javelin. The receptacle clip (circled red in below pic) that comes on the tie down plate is too small in diameter for the pin to fit into (lower bracket that inserts under the SS trim and adheres to the glass on the side of the rear window just above the bottom). Remember I purchased the mount kit from Summit (see prior post above).

So I called the toll free number for Willpak Industries, located in Oakwood Ontario Cananda this morning.
Very nice people to talk with. I talked with Doug. He tried his best to help.
The best information he could give me is that they buy the 1/4 turn fasteners and clip receptors for their louvers from a company named Southco.
I searched for Southco by putting "Southco Fasteners" in a google search.
I came up with what appears to be the company. I haven't gotten a chance to thoroughly search their site yet, but it's encouraging. My guess is they don't do small volume business. So I discovered that Aircraft Spruce handles Southco fasteners. I may have to give them a call.

I would imagine that you should be able to find what you are looking for at your local big box hardware stores, something like Home Depot carries that would be called J, U , or speed nuts should work.

So far this is the style receptacle I think I'm looking for, but I don't know if it has the correct diameter hole in it.
