I bought this upper control arm at one of the AMC swap meets, and didn't notice until I went to install bushings in it today that a previous owner had cut into it when removing the old bushings.

Is it ok to use, or maybe have welded, or does it need to go in the trash?

Cameron, I wouldn't use that the way it is.....weld it up and then rebush it, then I would use it.

Throw it away...They are plentiful and cheap...If you fix it you will always wonder and have doubt about it....replacement makes for inexpensive peace of mind....Bob in Alabama

Ok, thanks guys. I do have extras-- the two that are on the car now-- but I was happy not to have to remove the old bushings, which is the only part of this job I truly dislike. I've gotten really good at installing bushings now just using a long bolt and some sockets. I wish I could remove the old ones that easily!

X2. Thumbs Up  That's easy to do (if you have a welder) and it saves otherwise good part. I've seen a lot worse get fixed and they're still on the road.

I would weld it and use it.That is much better than the ones around here that no longer exist or are eaten in half by road salt.
