Just got my first 64 American 440 vert yesterday and I'm in the process of cosmetic restore. Can't find the interior trim code name/color etc in the forum. The trim code is 448V. The exterior is P56 aurora turquoise.   Anybody knows? It is some sort of aqua but I need to paint the metal dash and door and buy some vinyl and carpet dye. Any help is appreciated.   thanks

I highly recommend contacting Tower Paint up in Wisconsin.  they have, so far as I know in my experience, just about every AMC color code for interiors or exterior finishes, and can mix them for you there, and ship to you.  Everything they've done for me has been a perfect match, for vinyl, plastic and metal trim, with the correct sheen (satin/flat/gloss) that you need.

Here's who I usually talk with:

I too have used APS Tower paint with success.  I have worked by email and it hasn't been problem.  You can find the paint chip chart at www.autocolorlibrary.com    Most of the chip charts also show the codes for the interior colors.  They are not referenced by trim codes but by looking at your car you can figure out what colors you need overall.  Joe

As far as I know on the 440, the 1964 code for P56 paint is indeed called Aurora Turquoise and the 448 is the interior code that is just called Turquoise. The V at the end is for vinyl material.

I will point out that there was no "velour" interior option.  The "v" code and any alpha code was used to designate the type of seating (buckets, bench, reclining bench, etc.).  Joe

P 56 is Aurora Turquoise  T 448 V is light Turquoise (accent) . It's split bench seat with an upper and lower U share in the seat of different shards of the blue vinyl. There also bucket seats with and with out console. So, three different interiors on the American. I looked it up in upholstery book. LRDaum
