Looks nice Tom! Just wondering, what did you use to strip the engine bay? There's some tight areas to get into there.

I used a very mild paint stripper. Plus a lot of wire wheels to get into the the tight spots. But after a few times apply and removing the stripper I was able to get it down to bare metal. Then I used some self etching primer from a rattle can.

It's looking great! I'll have to try that on my engine bay now that the engine is out for a while.

Yeah, it takes time. I'm doing the whole car that way.

The primer does not look like it was applied from a spray can........keep up the good work.
I'll follow these lines a little ways more,

Until I can find what I'm looking for.

With the pedal to the metal,

I'm gaining my speed.

Riding down low in my AMC.....

Thanks guys. The new Rustoleum self-etching primer does a great job.

I haven't found much rust on this car, but there was the beginnings of some under some seam sealer in the trunk opening. And didn't realize that they used a brass solder on the joints.

Found a little more rust lurking beneath some seam sealer behind the rear bumper. This is a little more serious looking.

As i learned on my 71 those seams were poorly done and most will leak. Pay close attention to the lower corners where the trunk pan, quarter panel and the tail panel meet. I have a spare tail panel that you could see daylight in that spot on both sides. Ouch  Around the inner wheel housing is another poorly sealed area.
