Last time I asked you weren't selling any of the 2.43 stuff. That changed? |

IdahoSpud,
Do you have a picture of the 4-Groove Shaft on your T-10 4-speed Transmission? My T-10 has 4 Grooves on the shaft and T10P 1B on the Case and T10P 1A on the Tail with that being said, would I be correct to assume it is a 2.43 Wide-Ratio and why I could beat everyone out of the hole back in the day!!! Rebuilt it 4 years ago, however I'm going to put a Tremec TKO-5 Transmission in her. Thank you advance for reading and help. Jeff O Edited by Jeffs69AMX - Jul/06/2017 at 1:07am |

Just where is this P everyone is referring to. I have three T10 trannys and they all have no tag but have T10P stamped on the case. Two have 4 groves and one has 5 groves?

They're talking about the T-10P cast into the case (I believe)
Best way is to just mark one of the spines on the output and one on the input. Put it in first gear start spinning and counting. It's very easy, and if you put it in the wrong gear, you'll know right away when you're getting 1.77:1, 1.23:1 or whatever. Spin the input one time and count how many times the output spins. Almost every one I've ever had spins the output just under 2.25 tImes for one input revolution (V code). And all had the T10P casting. Easy peasy

All the cases have t10P cast into them, if the small tag attached by one of the tailshaft case bolts is still with the trans it will have either the "V" 2.23 or "T" 2.64 etc.. stamped into it, if not count the revolutions of input & output like already suggested.

^ That is why the trans can't be accurately identified by the grooves alone. The wide ratio trans in my jav has no grooves either.

Hope its ok to piggy back off this thread looking for some help deciphering my T-10 codes?
On my main body is: T10P-1B Under this is W.O. Div. Under that is F 24, 69 (is this a date code?? Feb, 24th 1969)? My tag has what looks like: 3197057 underneath is 24-TIOV (I assume this V is designating the 2.23 close ratio??) Follow up question - if this is a 1969 transmission it is bolted up to a 1971 401ci motor. Are there any issues to watch for mating these two components? |
