Quote 401AMBO "As for the Indy Cylinder Heads block vs the AMC block, the ICH block does have additional ribs in the valley and can be finished with a much larger bore. Think it still needs some work, others on the forum have experience with it. " Quote

Thanks, I have been following the ups and downs of the Indy block. I've read it's a crap shoot if you get one that needs a lot of work or a bit of work. But they will need work regardless.

I was wondering of the strength differences, you answered that, Thanks again.

I learned recently of two of the AMC Indy cars that still exist and had a chance to see them. From other comments made in the past I had thought they had been parted out and long gone. Nice to see some AMC history preserved.

The number 73 car is for sale, the asking price is over $100k. It does have the all aluminum engine.

Great to see these awesome pieces of history are still out there. Wish I had 100K to spare.

Just curious,

+ how much to import to Aussieland?
(sorry to side track the thread).

I would hate to be responsible for taking care of a part of history by owning the car,
but wow imagine taking a whirl down your favorite windy road with this?!!

This is why I need to win the lottery. First so I can share it with the AMC community and not be stored away. And take it for a spin on a track once in a while.Thumbs Up

Love to hear it run!!

I would like to give a shout out to AMC Apprentice! I have some AMC Indy 500 motor parts. I, like you, have been collecting these parts in hope to put some thing together some day. It looks like you have more then I do, seeing as I do not have a block, or heads. So I would be willing to sell you my Indy parts. That is AMC Indy parts, (Not Russes ICH parts). Or I would be willing to trad for some AMC nostalgia drag racing parts if that would be better for you. I am a long time AMC inthewseast and straightliner, and my not in my life time be able to do anything with the Indy stuff.  Just throwing it out there if your interested.

Barney Navarro ran an AMC six at Indy with a turbo. Tomj here got some of the parts a few years ago, some collector bought the complete engine. I forget the exact specs, but it was a sleeved 199 block with reworked factory crank...  Well, I see this thread specifically mentions V-8s...

From what I have read, Barney was knocking on the door at 650 hp out of the 199.
