Where is the AMC Indy Car today?  In the Indy Museum?   Who has the other engines?
Was everything destroyed/scrapped.

I found 3 all aluminum AMC V8 engines stamped with 360 with enough parts for 2 engines. When the project ended the engines were disassembled and sold to various companies and people. These were going to be used in a cigarette race boat.

These are the pictures.

There was an iron Indy block, an aluminum block, and some aluminum heads on eBay a couple years back.

My computer is giving me a red flag and will not allow me to access this web site due to security problem of drop.com web site. Do you have an alternative to this web site.

ALSO my understanding one of the MAJOR PROBLEMS with THE AMC INDY car engine blocks was that they turn out to be porous in the 1979 version of the aluminum blocks. I got this from drag racers from back in the day that tried to use the blocks in the early 1980's with out much success.

I looked for more info on the 1970's AMC Indy cars and found this. The car used in 1976 was a 1973 Eagle, sold to Patrick Racing for the 1973 Indy 500. It was fitted with a Ford V-8 and used in practice at Ontario 1973, but failed to qualify. It was raced by Dick Simon at two later races that season. It was used by Steve Krisiloff in 1974. It was sold to Jerry Grant at the start of 1975. Entered as the #73 Spirit Of Orange County by Fred Carillo for Grant. This car became Carillo's AMC engined car in 1976, driven by Jerry Grant and Lloyd Ruby. In 1977 the car was rebuilt to Offy specifications and sold to Jim McElreath. Subsequent history unknown.

In 1976 the car was entered in the following races;

3-14-76 Jimmy Bryan 150 Phoenix International Raceway
Qualified 19th Finished 22nd lost oil pressure.
Driver Jerry Grant

Fantastic Info and pictures. Someone needs to take the time and document all this info and interview anyone who is still around from the project. We are not very good at documenting our AMC racing history. This was an amazing project with an enormous cost. I am working on AMC 's in Pro Stock and documenting as much as I can, a bit a slow but it is happening.

Great pictures!! Thanks for posting those!!!

I got to see it in person a couple of times (back in the day) at Ontario Raceway. I'm thinking I also saw it once at Riverside Raceway as well.

Sorry, I wasn't taking pictures of anything back then. I was just happy to be at the races.
