Did the Gremlin get the front crunched?

XRV8 RP is looking for 5 people who'd like to build a 422 (or 387 from 287) CID Rambler V8.
By pooling the money together, we can greatly reduce the price for custom made Molnar stroker rods. EG: from 1900 down to about 800 per set of 8 The stroker rods will use far less expensive/common 1.88" rod bearings, feature a higher srength replaceable rod bolt and use a comparatively much lower cost/common Chevy 400 4.125" bore size piston (or Chevy 307 piston for stroker 287 - makes 387!) Advising to install 5.3 LS to Gen1 SBC adapter bronze valve guides, to use those common LS V8 1.95 intake 1.58 exhaust valves. -this opens door to using common bee hive Chevy LS valve springs... basically any machine shop can do this, and throat cut the ports... You will need a reground cam for totally new cylinder volumes (cam grinder will plausibly/should use "Cam Doctor" program to create new valve timing) In any case don't spend more money to install hardened valve seats! Install the larger size 5.3 LS V8 valves instead -with new aforementioned bronze guides. -easily solves worn valve seat issue & builds the engine to have increased future power making potential AMC's 327 Rambler V8 can be bored and stroked to make 472 CID 4.125 stroke w 4.155 bore - PROVED by 443 XRV8 Gremlin running dependably for 4 years... Peace out. Edited by amcenthusiast - Sep/06/2021 at 1:20am |

See EPI Inc.website for plausible HP estimate. This Gremlin uses a '65 American Motors iron case Flash-O-Matic automatic transmission.

I have read every post related to this project and thoroughly enjoy and appreciate what you have accomplished! Love the combination of the early motor with the car, especially considering the very "one off" you have created with the powerplant; incredible dedication! Please remind me what transmission you are using?

At this point, I'd like to add that NASA's Gemini space capsule, back then, was probably the most expensive form of human transportation? -A direct contrast to American Motors making the Gremlin the lowest price car made in USA. This 'says something' about American Motor's quiet goal of making affordable transportation for everyone else. (compared to high cost and extremely dangerous task of astronaut riding in a Gemini space capsule)

On a final note, explaining how AMC Gremlin is 'themed' in many ways to
honor the legacy of NASA's Gemini space program (honoring humankind's
highest scientific achievement at the time), we may notice the
similarity of 'The Gremlin Man" ornament to a 'space alien' or to real
life astronauts, who back then wore silver astronaut suits. Edited by amcenthusiast - Dec/27/2020 at 5:27pm |

Yes I think K.F.'s parachute is probably a class rule -maybe mandatory to have a secondary brake system. If one studies the Gemini program, they'll notice Gemini spacecraft used parachutes for safe landing.
