Like any good paint job (residential too) 75 percent of the work is in the prep. I used 2 gallons of primer on my car and I swear that 75 percent of it was swept up off the garage floor and into the trash.

looking great william! My best advice is once you think it is done... do one more guide coat and block! It sure feels like a never ending process!

Yes Sir... I've used a full quart of all metal... just on the hood, doors and fenders. 85% if not more, is in my trash can.

You're doing a 73 Gremlin...right??? Are you going to fill those Gremlin Man emblem holes or will your car have them like the earlier ones? Bob in Alabama

It's gonna be a real mess of not year specific parts.
The grille is gonna be 70 Hornet as is the front bumper. The fenders are from an early build 74 Gremlin as is the hood. I have some really nice reproduction fender Gremlins to put in the holes. The fenders also had a hole where there was a small piece of trim down closer to the door. Perfect spot for the 401 emblems. |

I think the hood script changed from a stylyzed cursive to a block print in 74. They new ones use a different number of holes. i think I have both versions in decent shape if you need one. Joe

Thank you Bob.. And Joe, you are correct on the emblem year change. I had to weld in the holes on the hood so I could re drill new holes for the script emblem on the hood. And I am good on emblems. Thank you for asking. Now we are in primer grey. |
