Depending on how "original" you want to keep your car the vendors do offer a reproduction fan plastic shroud.
American Parts Depot for example:

That is a flex a lite dual low profile fan. Not cheap but does a great job...easy install for the basic setup as well for the novice electrician. Yes that is the later GM style pump with a chrome cap. Had to search around for the single row pulley with the right offset.... I also run a fast ratio power gearbox from a Spirit GT

The '71 Javelin/AMX with A/C used the fiberglass shroud. Those are expensive and hard to find.

I have two 70 Javelins, one with factory A/C, one without.
The factory A/C car has a 7 blade fan, no shroud. The non A/C car has a five blade fan, no shroud. Both were unmolested cars when I acquired them. Both have two row radiators. Currently all the A/C stuff excluding the fan has been transferred from one to the other with additional mods. An aluminum 2 row radiator has been installed. In nearly 90 degree heat, high humidity, with the A/C on full (well not Desert Only setting) the engine idles at 600 RPM at 205 degrees. This is with the five blade fan and no shroud. The cooling system has been flushed numerous times and kept exceedingly clean. Coolant is Durex ethylene glycol and water, no adders. What I am saying is that maintenance of the cooling system has a lot to do with how it performs. I had a 76 FSJ, 401. It had the same 7 blade fan as the 70 Javelin. Actually they are baklite or some composition material. Much denser but little in reinforcement in the grain. All 71 on up had them... though, the original like fiberglass will not warp under heat unlike plastic. If you are willing... there are a number of modern cars with dual fan setups at a wrecker. They have similar composition to the originals in the frame design, but a wee lighter. Make a template of your radiator using cardboard and take it with you on a fan hunt sometime when you have a good day to spend hunting. Be sure to measure depth at least have an inch clearance from motors and or shroud. Make sure the shroud covers 95% of the radiator fin area, and has enough tab area to slow for mounting directly or with an extension. Don't settle for almost unless you find something you know can work with minor adjustments. Once you cut, the only way to properly secure the frame is to screw in extension arms or zip tie. As the material does not plastic weld, nor is easy to mend.

Welcome back Bill, luv your music. Many of the fullsize jeeps used the same radiator, and most all were V8's. Shroud from one of these should be easier to find. Jim

I have a 343sst rebel and have factory a/c.One question, does the flow of air created by the fans push through the radiator or on the engine? And did you have to put a highflow water pump?I have issues in Texas with sitting idle at the lights.Did you have to put a syelinoid on the car to handle the drag
from the engine? Thanks Larry

Does anyone know if a V8 Jeep Wagoneer or Cherokee fan shroud will work in a Humpster Javelin? I thought I read this here on the forum but I can't find it. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
