Lanolin has been around for a very long time. It is quite popular in Australia and New Zealand as we have more sheep than people. I use it anywhere you'd usually use a spray lubricant. Great for protecting against rust, lubricating wire rope, just about anything. I also agree that it smells good. It is also better for the environment if you use it in a marine application.

Wonderful stuff, it creeps and looks for voids to fill.  I find the smell is pleasant as well.

The guy who I first hired to do the body work on my car (though I eventually ended up with someone else) swore by this stuff called Fluid Film, and he bought a gallon of it that he planned to use on my car.  He called it "undercoating", but after researching it's actually a lanolin-based rust preventative. I'm not sure I'd want to spray the entire underside of a car with it (not a show car anyway) as I hear it stays a bit sticky, though from reviews I read it works very well at coating surfaces against rust and people swear by it for farm equipment, snow plows, etc..

The kit he bought me included a small spray can of the stuff, and I find it works well to spray on unpainted nuts and bolts to keep them natural looking. I suppose WD-40 would do the same thing, but I believe this is more durable, and it sure smells better.

Just wondering if anyone is using this stuff and what sort of uses you've found for it on your AMC.
