    Posted: Sep/16/2014 at 7:35am
I have had my 70 apart for a few months for paint etc. Am beginning the reassembly and trying to address some issues before I put the dash back in. My fuel guage is working and my temp is not. Does the instrument voltage regulator control both? If so I assume that is not the issue. Thanks for your help!

Yes...the voltage reg on the back of the cluster controls both.   You can test the temp gauge by grounding the wire in the engine compartment that goes to the sending unit and if the gauge goes full scale it's ok as is the harness.  At that point I'd replace the sender on the top of the manifold.  DO NOT use any tape on the threads....  Hope this helps..

Chuck.....on 1970 all cars were equipped with Low Fuel Warning, that unit cut the Fuel Gauge out of the CVR Circuit....it has a plastic isolator.  So in 1970 if everything is dead original the CVR only controls the temp gauge.

My 70 had the low fuel warning and the build was April 1970.

Ross;

I think you mean "on all '70s that had the Low Fuel Warning". That was an optional item. Not a standard equipment item. Thanks for the heads-up on the CVR with that unit, I would not have known that!

Paul,

I have some sales paperwork that shows the Low Fuel Warning as STD Equipment for 1970.....I'll see if I can find....either way the tech still applies...
