Saw it on Craigslist today, got her for $2000.  Solid car -- some minor rust on the tops of the fenders and missing the front spoiler otherwise in really good shape with a TON of the original paperwork!

No solid plans yet other than getting the couple of rust spots patched up and a new coat of paint (paint job on it is pretty poor).

More pictures to come tomorrow but took this one quick while filling up before leaving town with her.

I sure hope so.  I have a '66 Rogue but don't know much of anything about the "newer" AMC's.  Will be browsing the forums to see what kind of information I can dig up.  My Standard Catalog of American Motors book says there were only about 2500 of these things made so that was the deal maker for me.. love a car no one sees around anymore.  Plus those little gauges were super cool.

Sweet acquisition! The front spoiler is the same as the one on the '79 and '80 Spirit. There is a thread where there is an effort ongoing to get them re-popped.I had my eye on a '78 that needed the front spoiler. I felt sure I was going to buy the car so I when I found the spoiler, I bought it. Never did get the car so I sold the spoiler. As you see in my signature, I have a '77 AMX. They are perfect in size and they handle real well. When you get them, post pictures in the '77-'80 AMX photo section.

Here are some photos -- much easier to link to my Flickr than post on the forums.

Can anyone offer insight as to what fenders will fit this car or some place with some interchange information?  I think that is the major cosmetic thing that will need done.

Nice catch for a good price!  I'm sure glad it doesn't have Levis interior as I'd bet it would be my old one that I sold in Indiana in 1980. I'd have to offer you big $$ to get it back.Wink

:) I have all the documentation. It was purchased in Omaha, NE and spent it's whole life in south east Nebraska.

If you still want to offer me good money I'm all ears!

To get fenders just look for that base model car.. what was a 78 amx? My 77 is a hornet n had the same top fender rot.

The '78 AMX was a '78 Concord.

Fenders can be had from other donor cars:

'77-'78 Gremlin

Bumpers are going to be a bit of a challenge.
The '78 AMX has painted face bar.
The Concord has a chrome face bar with and without horizontal guards.
The '77 and '78 Gremlin has an aluminum face bar ( I presume since it doesn't say chrome).
The '78 Gremlin GT bumpers are color coded to the car.

So although any of the above bumpers will fit your car, it might be a concern to you if it isn't an exact replacement.
