I had been warned by many that you cant make a wet sump 401 live on a circle track. I found a way....

I think that was a point you brought up a year or so ago about 401 crank oiling mods. At the time I came off unexpectedly, with my reasons not to go wild with an external line and cross drilling. Even though I did not credit your way of correcting oiling issues, my concern was the oiling on #6 between 390 and 401... and your mod seems to be the best for clearances and ease in locating the passages without a line on top.

The block I have has a top line mod, which may have been done improperly by its past owner, as the fitting hole does not have a lot of meat to seal with. Hole may be too big in general, but none the less my plans are to seal it shut and re drill the gallery. If anything a leak on top is more harmful than one going into the pan and pickup. Not that I expect lines to leak or fail, just never sat well in my mind to want a line mod on top.

I couldn't be any happier with the condition of this engine. I re-used the main bearings but did order new rod bearing(but will save the old ones lol)
Along with the rebuild I am converting the car to be 100% legal for Street Stock. That requires a circle track powerglide instead of the bert trans I have been running. A 2bbl holley(I plan to mount it sideways and use my drag float and jet extensions), the correct compound tires( I have been running a d compound tire but only A's are allowed now).
And finally rules say I have to run an hei distributor. So I machined a chevy housing to fit into the amc pcv hole. I am also going to put a valve cover breather inside the cap. Now when they want to check for a roller cam I will be able to pull my hei out so they can see the flat tappets. Like all the chevy guys do...
The rules don't say the distributor has to function...yet

Engine is together and I am converting to the powerglide trans. It should be a performance advantage on starts with a usable low gear for a wot take off.

I wonder how many people you're going to confuse with 2 distributors?

Once its back in the car I'll make a cover for the front dist. It will be kind of an extended fan shroud on top.

Well...I never thought about 8 plugs. I was gonna run wires up under the cover I make in front...Maybe I should mount 8 more plugs somewhere
I could drill 8 hole into the flexplate shield and mount plugs there

On the flip side of the interest level is my javelin I found a pic of recently. I don't think it has any shares or likes..lol
