Thanx for the chart.  I have a  AMX with a 343 Auto with a bad flex plate.  Now that I have the part number, all I have to do is find the flexplate.  Any Ideas or help?

Sorry to jump in here but I'm at a loss.
My issue is I put a automatic transmission in my 66 rambler classic 770 4 door. It came out of a 64 classic 550 2 door. Went to start it and the starter wasn't hitting the torque converter. Pulled the starter back off and noticed the ring gear on the torque converter is smaller then the one from my 66. 66 has a 232 motor. Not sure what was in the 64.  I was told I could put the 64 bell housing on the transmission or put the 66 torque converter on the 64 trans. I was wondering if I could just use the 64 starter.  Or maybe someone here has an idea on what I could do to fix this mess created. Thank you and again. Sorry for jumping into your topic.

after  perusing through this ,im more confused than ever. I've seen pics of 304 flexplates   for 904s and for 727, i was under the impression that 304s were matched with 904s or maybe 998s,from what it looks like the torqueflite (command) would work with either the 727 or 904 maybe the 998, as long as you use the plate that came on the engine (304on 304, 360 on  360,401 on 401 727 or 904 not a factor?
also ,if i was to get an 360 or 401, engine out a jeep, would i just buying a plate for a 360 or  401 for a torque command?
also how do you tell whether    my 74 matador 304 has a 904,998 or 727?

You can't or, shouldn't, inter change any of them .  Each engine was balanced individually with the vibration damper and flywheel/Flex plate mounted to the rotating assembly.
Normally the 360 and 401 does not have the same weight.

I added a picture of the TH400 crank bushing to this post with some info.  It is a Jeep thing but if you are transplanting a AMCJeep engine which was mated to a TH400 in to a car with a 727 you need to know this.

I see that most of the info here pertains to late 60’s forward. I was hoping to get info, recommendations on finding a flexplate for an early 60’s 327. Will be bolted up to a stock 59 trans with torque tube.
Thanks for the help.

I would weld the half a hole shut and make it round again with a die grinder.

I have 1970 AMX with a 360 and the M-B11 trans. Some how 1 of the 3 bolts for the torque converter to bolt to the flexplate broke, leaving some of the bolt in the torque converter. I found this chasing a vibration. I am going to pull apart and try to remove the busted bolt from the tc. Problem is the bolt hole in the flexplate has been elongated and I wouldn't want to trust just replacing the bolt. Am I understanding what I have read here that even if I only replace the flexplate and reuse the tc, I have to have the new flexplate and crank rebalanced as an assembly? Please tell me I am wrong and can just replace the fp. I will be replacing all 3 bolts and spacers to the torqconverter.
