Do Hornet/Gremlin wheels interchange with Javelin wheels? I am thinking of a 70 model.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks! I am assuming that they are identical, not just that they fit the same column.

Javelin SST did. Hornets/Gremlins did not.

Some of the SST's we have seen here locally don't appear to have had rim blow wheels. Not sure why because I am aware that SST's are supposed to have them. One car that appears to have the same born with wheel is a loaded 390 Donohue car and it has a standard wheel, for example.

My main concern was if the wheel rim was the same, not just the center bar. Someone said to me that he thought that the Hornet wheels had a more oval shape to the rim to allow for getting in and out of the car easier.

Thanks,

Chris

I would bet that a number of rim-blo wheels were replaced over the years with ordinary-easily available replacements.
Hornet/Gremlin wheels are just as round as any other AMC wheel.Wink

I would not be surprised if the rim blow was replaced early in the cars life . I really don`t like the rim blow as I find it very easy to blow the horn by accident and I would imagine it would be worse on a car with standard steering . If my car was a daily driver the rim blow would be hanging on the wall Wink

Just a quick note.... You could get a rim blow in a Hornet (not just the SC/360). I have had at least 2 original 71 Hornet SST's with rim blows (one Sportabout wagon). Two of the 5 SC/360's that I've owned originally came with rim blow wheels, both were Mustard cars....

Joe is correct about '71 Hornets, but we were discussing 1970 models. The rim-blo disappeared from the standard equipment and option list about February 1971. There's not going to be many Hornets around with those in them!
