If I eventually get around to fabricating some for my classic I will put some photos up and possibly a file to get the flanges laser cut, it's a long way off now though.

Did you ever get those headers installed? I actually own a 72 and a 73 Ambo and I'd like to put headers on both but I'm running into the same problem as you. Nothing lists the Ambo on the details.

if you have a 70 and later Ambassador or matador  use the
cast iron free flow headers from the 390 or 401 engines and
save yourself a lot of problems
grind and clean up the header to match the ports and they will make as much or more HP as a leaky ill fitting header
and any good muffler shop can make the  front pipes to the original
AMC specs if you do find a set of headers put them in the trunk
and enjoy driving  your car  , I know the hassel with headers from past experiance

The advantage of headers when connected to a full exhaust system is mostly neautralzed by the exhaust system so if you just use your freeflows already on the car with a low restriction exhaust systems the performance difference will be negligible. Where headers make a significant difference is when you they are tuned and run open.

My plan is headers and straight pipes out the back. The Ambo is just too quiet sitting next to my 67 Rebel. :)
