there was a list of gm cars that showed what years the cars were and what alternators they used and amperage , i remember seeing it around 2 weeks ago. the problem is whenever we looked up a high amp alt they all had a serpintine pulley, is there any with the v belt?

Check the shaft sizes -- you may be able to swap the pulleys with in impact gun.

I never saw this list you are refering to, but I'm converting my 70 AMX to a Delco Alt. too.

Rather than using the CS series Alt.(which has weird mounting IMO) I'm going to keep things simple by using a Delco 12SI Alt. which is what was used on an 87 Grand Wagoneer 360. That way (rather then spending time fabricating brackets, or butchering the Alt. housing to fit the early car mounting bracket) I am using the Alt. bracket from an 87 Grand Wagoneer 360 and have a simple bolt on Alt. upgrade. The GW also uses a V-belt like you are looking for. The NAPA part number for the 94 Amp. Delco 12SI Alt. is #NAE 66042. You can also get 100 Amp and higher versions of that same Alt. from Summit Racing.

thank-you for the input, the list was refrence from someone who requested it, saying something like everybody talks about these gm alternators 10si,12si, and the cs130, but nobody says what cars they came from. sounds like you have it under control, and i will look into it, might be a matter of finding a bracket, but again thank-you appreciate it

Powermaster makes a 10si that bolts into the stock Motorola brackets. Also, it's pretty easy to modify a 10si to fit in place of a Motorola alternator. All you need to do is cut down the pivot boss on the case.

the problem is going to a parts store they always want to know what year the alt came from , so asking for a 10si is useless , they have no idea what that means
