Hi all,

Anyone else familar with the bench seats on a 78 Concord?  I'm 6'2" and the seat doesn't go back nearly far enough for my tastes.  Is there any way of fixing this?

Not really.   unless you modify the tracks.

Check the tracks and such for quarters, nickles etc.
I'm 6' 2" and don't recall having any issues with that era of AMC cars.

Put the seat clear forward then look for anything that may be hanging things up.
A few different cars over the years had a double set of bolt holes to allow the seats to go forward or rearward, usually about 2" depending on the car. If that is a year they did that and someone short owned it the seat may be in the forward set of holes. Holes will be in the seat where it bolts to track.

To move a seat that doesn't have either one of the above problems you pretty much have to be a fabricating type guy or know one. I had to reshape part of the steel shell in the seat bottom of our 97 Cherokee just to get an additional 1", but it helped.

I usually find it is easier to modify the track where it bolts to the seat as both those areas tend to be flat. Make sure if you decide to do this that it is done safely. You don't want the seat frame breaking should you ever get hit or involved in an accident.

I am 6 ft, and mine fit fineSmile I wonder if yours has been moved ahead to the second hole set-meaning the bottom of the seat where the track hooks up, some are double drilled. Well that is if it is a split bench, solid bench is single drilled. Kinda as Wr said What I have seen folks do is to bolt a seperate slice of metal to the bottom of the cushion, and simply drill it where they want it to fit their needs, short folks put a 2x4 piece of wood behind each back mount.
