A turbo on anything should help. Just don't expect to gt V-8 power just by slapping on a turbo and turning up the boost. Most stock engines should be okay with 4-5 psi, which will add 20-30% in power depending on how efficient the installation is. Everything has to correctly sized to work together, just like anything else! PMM sent you to the right place to get some info.

With a YJ and 4cylinder the best thing you can do is drop in some 4.88 gears which are deepest you can run on a Dana 30 front axle.  It will scream on the highway but if your off roading it much you will want to run at least a 31x10.50 if not a 32 or 33.  The turbo will create one heck of a lot of heat and that real bad if you do technical rock crawling trails since the cooling is all fan.

Gears or selling the YJ and buying a 4.0 TJ (better rig all around) will be a lot cheaper too.
