Kit is just bracket's, i then have run GM-Caliper's and pad's with Ford rotors . . .
I have 4 wheel drum brakes none of my system is any good for anything all junk . . .
If the front brake parts are Obsolete how dose one do a brake job on the rear, those will still be 40 year old drum brake parts same as the front ? ? ?

Front brakes do 80% of the braking......................................and Ive had 4 wheeled drum brakes and they do not stop very well at all........All your newer stuff has disc brakes. your 6.5 diesel, and that comm anche have disc brakes. parts will be availible for a while, but drums is a problem for some AMC's. but if you use common sense, you wont have to worry about drums for awhile. I mean dont run rivets into the drums. change the shoes.........and I dont even compare a car or a pick up to a 33 K GVWR truck at all.

My aunt & uncle owned a 24/7 towing service for 25 year's, tho none of the truck's had all drum brakes, there was one Rig that had all disc brakes and it didn't really stop any better then the Disc / Drum trucks . . . its stopping was about the same and had to be serviced a lot more . . .
Trucks with 33K-lb GVWR and over are running full drum brakes

Thats your uncle and aunt.................not you.
Ive had brakes go out on me. it isnt funny. I like to go fast. but I want to stop............Ive seen car wrecks. and take my word for it, you dont want to be in a bad wreck. If you saw the car I had the wreck with, you wouldnt have the attitude you have.............you might even be dead............listen to your dad. hes right.

So you want me to leave the drum brake in the rear ? toss a set of wheel cylinders & shoes in the rear's adjust them up and leave them alone ?
Then
You want me to remove the front drum brake system completely and replace it with Disc brakes from another brand make model vehicle ?
EDIT: the 1969 AMC AMX could be had with Front Drum brakes, But didn't the 1969 AMC AMX also come with front disc brakes ?
why couldn't i Remove my 69' front drum brakes and replace them with 69' Front Disc brakes ?
The auto parts store may say sorry we can't help you, But at least i would have 1969 AMC AMX parts on my 69' AMX . . . Not GM-calipers and Ford rotors . . .

sure. You can use the newer AMC disc brake systems. 1965-70 is expensive. 1971-76 is hard to find, but its a good set up. 1977-81.....are pretty much the same, but 1977-78 use a different bearing.. 1982-83 uses a different c aliper I think, but its also a low drag set up. I have the 1978 system on a 1972 Gremlin. IF you really want GOOD brakes, then send a PM to Hornet_X...........aka Mike Luke. |
Reread this.

If you could kindly tell where to get the parts to switch out my 69'
front Drum's for 69' front disc's i would be perfectly happy . . .
Because:
1. i got front disc brakes.
2. I have the correct front disc brakes.
This what i wanted to know tha whole time, how and where to get the parts to go from 1969 AMC AMX front drum's to the optional 1969 AMC AMX front disc's . . .
