trying to replace the timing cover in my 76'  cj7 jeep and in my efforts to get the timing cover out of the jeep got to the harmonic balancer and   can't seem to get the right tool to remove it let alone put it back on...lol   the puller sugested in the manual has 4 bolt holes in it and i can't seem to find it anywhere.  the balancer does have slots cut in to it but the standard  puller for this is to thick to fit in to them.  and the regular puller that is normaly used for three hole aplcations  won't even fit to get at least two bolts in it to use it.  Does anyone know of a another sure fire way to get this thing off...lol

If it's a 4 hole balancer, you can use a 2 hole puller.
Remove the 4 bolts holding the pulley and use two opposing holes and a 2 bolt puller.
Never pull from the outer ring, never use a standard 2 or 3 jaw puller.
Chances are NAPA or other stores have pullers that will work..........
I happen to have the original Kent Moore tools, but also have a generic balancer puller that will work with 2 or 3 bolts to deal with 4 or 3 bolt balancers.

Yeah, don't use the puller with the hooks on it.  I popped the outer ring right off the center once and never used the hook style again.

thanks guys i will give this a try tonight with the two hole.   I was going to try this but was not too sure about doing it,  thinking i would mess something up...lol  One thing i learned quick working on this thing is parts are ether hard to find or made of gold.  Any 50 fix turns to a couple hundrd when you go in blind,  break tools and parts.

You can buy one of those cheap harmonic balancer pullers for about $20.

That's the type of tool that popped the outer ring off the center hub for me so be careful if the rubber looks old.
