i have recently aquired a 1980 jeep j20 with the motorcraft 2300 on the top it has been modded out with a electric fuel pump and has been sitting  for five years i've pretty much changed everything out and cleaned everything possible but no matter what i do it ALWAYS FLOODS out under any load if your downhill its great or flatland its ok but ANY hill she boggs down and will not go until you downshift continuesly any help would be appreciated. i have adjusted the screws to the manufactures recomendations of 2 turns out and that seems pretty good but just wont stop flooding out.. i've cleaned the carb from top to bottom jets and all please helllp!!!!!

How much fuel pressure do you have? Are you using a pressure regulator with the electric pump? Check all your filters also..

filters are new. according to previous owner it ran fine when he parked it so not thinking pressure is the issue since he installed it and drove it that way for years. i did get strangely curious and turn in the screws ridiculously close to half turns on both sides amazingly this helped tremendously.. but I've never run across something that runs on just half turn out.. will check pressure in A.M. also another note i did adjust the choke not that it really matters in this issue.. didnt really change anything. also fuel has been swapped out since what was in tank was 5 yrs old..

I have a Holley 600 on a jeep with a 360. I set the mixture screws while using a vacuum gauge, and I get the best readings at 1/2 turn out, also.  It runs fine this way, so, I just leave it.

Gasket between top plate and main body seals fuel bowl from venturis.
Gasket seal area on the casting is a little narrow between them.
iirc the air cleaner stud also clamps the top plate to the main body
Just a possibility, on uphill, gas from fuel bowl leaking past gasket into venturis ?
or possibly sloshing out the bowl vents ?
Entire fuel bowl cavity is covered by a solid gasket sheet on the bowl side.
Maybe try setting the float a little lower than the stock spec ?
On one, the small hole cutout in the gasket did not "match" the top float tang
and prevented the float from traveling completely up and closing the needle.
Little gasket trimming with an exacto helped on that one.

well pressure is at a whooping 7 pounds and from what i read thats just one pound off from perfect for this application. float has been reset and checked with pump running it functions the way it should gaskets are all new now. its now snowing and at a beautiful 13 degree's so i'm waiting for another warm day to do more testings and tuning will try backin down screws a tad more to see what it does

ok she runs excellent now with new adjustments and took a test run in daylight which is seldom, and notice under load i burn enough oil to elude any followers... so it still bogs down under load but is due to plugs oiling up BAD AHHH where to go from here...
