Due to family , work and a lack of money this project has been apart way too long . After sixteen years it is finally headed to the body shop for final body work and paint. It is supposed to go in Oct and should be about a month before I get it back . According to the shop it will be re block sanded painted, cut and polished. I would have preferred to have the body painted and then put together but I did what I could and could afford at the time so the undercarriage is done as is under the hood and trunk. I know there will be lots of detailing to do when it comes back but I have all winter so if all goes well it should be back on the road next summer. Before it goes to the body shop it has to have the front and rear windows removed.

Looks good! I took my AMX to the body shop with the door jambs, trunk and engine compartment already done. The shop masked the underbody and door jambs, and used spray mask in the engine compartment. It worked out great, no overspray at all. Good luck with your project.

Looks great! Can't wait to see it!
You can do things the right way or the wrong way.

Or you can do it MY way...which is like the wrong way, only faster.

Thanks guys ! I will try and get some shots of the car while its at the body shop and show the progress. The body shop owner figures he should be able to keep most of what I have done masked off to limit the overspray . I can`t wait to finally see it in color again it`s been a long time in primer.

Hey Dave ! Glad to hear from you hows that sister car to mine coming along ?

I also have most of the chrome at the platers right now waiting to be done as soon as he receives
the payment . The Hood Molding ,Headlight eyebrows,Tail light housings,Quarter window moldings and the air breather lid and wing nut will be done . I also have all new AMX letters ,Chrome I piece`s for the tailights,Chrome centre caps , New rubbers around the roof and doors and trunk and finally the dash pad is on its way.
The only problem and I am starting to get frustrated is the car is still waiting to go to paint AngryI was there two weeks ago and he was waiting for a guy to get his 70 442 Olds out so he has the room to get at mine. I said push it outside and he will come and get it Wink. I am just about at the point to look for someone elese but it`s difficult to find good body men and painters around here. I am just glad I have not put any kind of deposit down . If it`s much longer it will have to wait until spring as I don`t have any access to an enclosed trailer and if there is any salt on he road it stays put in my garage and it will have to wait.Unhappy
Kevin

Body Shop Jail is less than "fun", try asking for a written completion commitment date ?
Amazed at the reaction when requesting something in writing.
Try taking the car home after completion and telling'em it'll be paid for "soon".
Such a high margin on insurance work, no way they'll make it wait to do resto paint work.
Agree though, good paint & body folks are few and far between.
