I am working on a 70 390 and have seen the oil filter bypass plug that is sold by Bulltear. Also read about using a filter adaptor that allows you to use a Motorcraft FL-1A oil filter. My question is if you do these changes is there anything else that needs to be done for using these items or can you just switch these out and use the FL-1A filter with the bypass blocked? Thanks in advance for any help Bob 

The bypass plug and oil filter adapter is all you need.

Yep, that's similar to the old method of placing an object that fits the hole, to plug it. There is a lip in the hole to seat, and the adapter bypass plate is undersized, so what ever is used won't be dropped or pushed into the block. I had hand filed (no grinder at the time) a cut threaded section of a bolt to fit, back when I had my 1st AMC, in the 80's.

Though the Crown part would be easiest, if readily available.
