I see the broken piston top in your last picture. I just took apart a 390 block with 401 crank and there was a piston just like it. The dish depth & valve relief makes the distance to the bottom of the ring groove  inadequate. Check out your next pistons carefully. Pat

I will get some help on this build, a good local builder.

And i guess i will find a edelbrock air gap intakte,  if not i will run the offenhauser i  got with the engine

The 904 in the gremlin right now only have 1 gear, so i pulled it and started to swap in a 727, That way i can get the car to inspection and get an idea of how much i need to do before i can drive it legal LOL

Still collecting parts for the 401 build.

Got the 727 in the car today. 

Will need a shorter driveshaft

Was happy to find my rering and gasket kit in the mail today. 
Then i found out the main bearings was missing in the shippment DisapproveThumbs Down
