Updating this post for others who may stumble upon it in the future. I ended up removing my old Ranco switch and installed a Vintage Air 11088 instead. Make sure to mark how deep your existing switch goes into the evaporator to ensure you install the new switch to the same depth. This can all be done by removing your speaker and air vent from the dash.
I had to file down the threads on the new switch for it to fit through the weather eye hole, so it’s more of a compression fit instead of using the threaded nut like the old switch, but it seems to stay in place pretty well. I haven’t wired everything up yet so I am unsure if everything will work, but will update if it all works.

Hello everyone,
I have the weather eye system in my 1969 AMC Javelin w/ original A/C. Unfortunately one of the switches came apart when I was pulling the dash and I am unsure how to reassemble it. This is the switch that has a hard line that runs to the AC box in the middle of the dash. Here are some pictures of what I am working with. Should I just buy a brand new switch or is this salvageable?? How does this thing go back together? Thanks in advance for the help! |
