Hello AMC forum, new member here...
I'm replacing the clutch on a 1975 CJ5 with a 304.  There's a hole in the block on the same surface as the oil pan & behind it & appears to go directly into the crankcase. Is that a vent & should it have a connection or tube or something?  Perhaps a plug?  Round milled hole on the underside of the block??
Any insights would be most appreciated.
Thank you
Bob

Passenger side ? If so it's a register hole, used to locate the block during machining at the factory.
There is one also at the front of the block on the same side.  No need to plug it.
Welcome to the forum.

I think the hole he's talking about is in the upper left of your pic.  It's just a register hole that was used during the machining process.  It's a blind hole, no plug required.

That's exactly the hole!  Should have figured it out with a simple, stick a screwdriver in there - I'm a dope...
Thank you gentlemen.  Really appreciate you guys helping an old Jeep guy out.
Thanks!
