I THINK I have the correct air cleaner base..

I am going to put this on my 65 American 440H, IF I do have the correct air cleaner....
I have not yet re-torqued the head bolts in the past 5000 miles.., so it will be a good time to do both

Looks llike the style that used a sort of V band clamp around the neck of the carb and filter base. Long screw and a wingnut out the side.

Just to avoid misinterpretation, I'm not saying its the correct part shown but I believe it's the correct style for that carb neck

sadly this is for a 1v but this is the style clamp you need. I'm sure there is a 2v out there someplace.

Maybe not. Some of the early air cleaners had a clamp on base made onto them instead of a bail. I've seen that most often on old 50s oil bath air cleaners. Don't know what AMC did on early (pre 63) WCDs. Wouldn't hurt to drill the lip of the air horn for a later model bail though. Won't affect carb operation, and it can always be removed it the original type is desired later.
