Anyone here tried any of these Chinese-made York knock-off compressors yet?

My Javelin came with factory A/C but the compressor was disconnected when I bought the car. I'm thinking to make fixing that my next project but considered getting one of these rather than rebuilding what I have.  I'll need a rebuilt dryer and all new hoses too as the old ones look crispy.

I like keeping things original, but I have also thought about just going with a Sanden. I would have to come up with another mounting bracket if I did that.

I've been curious about these repop Yorks myself. I know we have to make sure the head has the Rotolok fittinngs and that the suction and discharge are on the correct sides.
Long time AMC fan. Ambassador 343, AMX 390, Hornet 360, Spirit 304 and Javelin 390. All but javelin bought new.

Yes, learned that the hard way when I was restoring my BBO AMX.  I bought a NOS compressor in Kenosha one year.  It was NOS alright, but for a Ford, so the suction and discharge were reversed. Ermm

R U sure it was for a Ford and not something like an early Eagle?  I've not compared but I have two other compressors here that came from various AMCs and wondered if because things routed differently if the ports were on the same sides as those on my 70, for example.

I've delt with the flipped ports on AMC between horizontal and vertically mounted compressors.

Could be.  I thought all AMC had LH suction, but I really don't know whether that's true.  There was something at the time beside the switched ports that made me think it came from a Ford-- I don't remember what now. In any case, it was just a matter of reversing the head as I recall.

My big body has the suction on the passenger side.

As you can see, my discharge or high pressure is on the driver side (left side) of car. It's even labeled "Discharge".
This means the ones sold on eBay IF the picture is what you GET or actually RECEIVE, it's backwards from many AMCs.

So my Javelin is like Heavy's car - suction or low pressure on the passenger side, discharge or high pressure on the driver side.
eBay compressors - the opposite.

I've seen folks "complain" about AMC doing that because they can't get STRAIGHT hose ends in there easily. Well, my Robinair setup from the 1970s connects fine because it has a slight angle to the hose connections. Not tons of room, but connects just fine.
What I'm saying with all that is - my Javelin isn't a one-off as people complain about the ports being next to each other and not out in the open.

I'd have to look at the compressor I have from an 80 Eagle on my shelf out in my shop to see what it's like.
By 82 AMC dropped the big box compressor so can't go by my SX4 - especially now since it has a 94 ZJ compressor on it.

A while back., I swapped compressors from a smaller car. It was horizontally mounted from a Hornet. The inlet/ outlet were the opposite and had to rotate the head 180.
