Read this:

http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/transmissions/manual/t150   If the actual design of the automobile version is equivalent toploader, it should be OK if you treat it right.

When you're dealing with a transmission 30-40 years old,  it doesn't matter how you treat it,  what matters is how it was treated in those previous decades.

When it came to 3 speeds,  AMC put a T-15 behind a 360 usually.

it's not a T150. they're large. the tail portion is fat, with an aluminum casting on the bottom that looks like a heat sink.

there is definitely a top cover; cast iron case with a stamped steel cover. 4 bolts is T96, 6 bolts T14. just orient the trans andf bell so that the shift levers and throwout lever is on the drivers side.

those shift levers dont look factory i agree. they're too tall.

I went outside and looked at the T-150 I have,  from a 77 Gremlin.
That shifter is exactly what is on my T-150,  right down to the very sturdy shift rods,  and double bolted front shift arm.
Speedometer drive in same location.
Mine has a 9 bolt top cover,   3 across the back,  4 down each side, front 2 closer together.

Maybe they used the same shifter on more than one transmission.
But with all the thick muck on that transmission,  it's hard to make out details.

One picture from the top and it could be IDed instantly,  by the top cover.
