raysinvegas is right about the fact that the only 290 bolted up to the BW M11 was in the AMX's.  According to the Scott Campbell book there were 484 '68 AMX's and 299 '69 AMX's with the 290 and M11.

Not hard to get a 343 or other plate rebalanced for the 290 though. About $80 here.

The 1969 TSM says that 290 with 4V carburetor uses the M11 transmission.

The parts catalog shows the 290 4V convertor drive plate as AMX only.

Does it follow that the 290 4V is only used in the AMX?

Not sure about 4 Speed cars, but all of the 290 4V/M11 were 2 seaters.

Yes, but I really don't want to dismantle a freshly rebuilt engine to do so.

I used the M47 flexplate that was balanced for the 290 and had the offset weight positionmatched on another flexplate for the other trans. (in my case, it was a nailhead TH400 to the 290 using the factory crank adapter for the trans off my 304)

1970/71 360 and 390 flex plates.   Notice that we had to weld a little extra weight (red) to the 360 flex plate to match up to the 390. I don't have a 71 401 flex plate to compair to the 390.

The 290 flexplate I have has no extra weight. Just the offset of the holes in the plate.
