I have a Chrysler auto in it now. it hs a mech control
and I copied the linkage as it was on the original carb.
Question is what the heck is that little electric sensor
that is plumbed into a tube running to the trans?
It was just hanging there when i got the car.
I guess i will have to look it up in the TSM.

Thanks for picking though.

All the 68 AMX's have that throttle return spring under the kickdown switch linkage from the factory, I hadnt noticed mine was missing either for over 20 years until I got a 68 TSM that had the linkage diagram for the 68 AMX's and it shows the spring going from the little tab on the firewall behind the valve cover up to the linkage under the kickdown switch contact portion of the linkage assembly(theres a small hole for the other end of the spring that goes to the firewal mount machined into the linkage). Went to a hardware store and got a spring that fit and called it a day.

I still use a spring in the approximate location as yours but I hooked it onto one of the mounting bolts for the linkage bracket on the intake manifold so it can't slide around....its chrome so it's more for looks but that factory return spring location gives me piece of mind in the off chance something happens to that carb mounted return spring and it's how AMC intended it originally so it's a win win.

Just looking out for a fellow AMC'er with a suggestion

Boris,  it has been a long time since I had my 73 Javelin,  from memory there was a TCS system though all I remember is the ambient temperature switch and the GM made electronic can to override vacuum that was mounted on the coil bracket. Now that I have a 71 Javelin,  my details have been scattered at best.

There is a backup/neutral safety switch down at the valve body.

For the life of me that TCS switch I am vague on... Not sure if it is at the throttle return spring bracket and linkage,  just don't remember any other connection at the tranny.

I posted an example of my RUNNING tunnel ram setup, that is Fully functional and takes me down the 1/8th mile fast as !!!!!!
As far as I know, mine is the only one currently in an AMX with a bug catcher.
I did not ask for any suggestions or opinions on how to make it better or spend more money on it!
Boris, good luck driving yours,
Mine is awesome.....   Check the video
348 AMX, you are not running a tunnel ram, so I do not care what you want to say about mine.
Good luck to all of you. You have now ruined this forum for me, with your criticism.

Added a spring bracket.
Next is the cable and fuel system.
Hopefully engine will be built and installed this spring.

Saw your video and really like your car. Honestly I dont know how you interpreted my tip about the factory return spring location as being critical. It was meant to be helpful.

Thanks!
The 304 is making for a great
fixture to get all the little things sorted out
before the big engine goes in.
