Just making sure this is OK, cant find a definitive answer anywhere. Using dogleg exhaust manifold gaskets on early rectangular port heads is OK, yes?

It will work but keep in mind that the dog leg area is thin if you are using dog leg exhaust manifolds or D-L headers.

I have three sets of the dogleg gaskets laying around, and thought I'd just use them. Went ahead and got the correct ones.

Modern exhaust gaskets are already prone to leaking. Why give them another reason to leak by using the wrong ones.

Every factory exhaust manifold I've removed from an AMC V8 engine did not have gaskets from the factory........

MANY, many years ago, when I worked for the local Audi dealer, we sent a lot of exhaust manifolds out to get them machined flat on the mounting surface. So before you reach for a manifold gasket, take a straightedge and check your manifolds.
