    Posted: Jul/20/2007 at 10:25pm
Hi gang:
On my 1968 AMX, I would like to replace the Eaton Power Steering Pump Reservoir Gasket that fits the lid of the reservoir.  Do any of you know where I can get this gasket?

I see some AMC parts dealers selling repair gasket kits for the Eaton pump but do not see them state that the lid gasket is part of that kit.

Any help or clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks So Much!

If they are selling a kit like the original AMC supplied kit, then it will have the resevoir gaskets. It's probably best to ask the seller. It is very tricky to get those resevoir "O-rings" (not really an O-ring) to seal so if anyone has any tip or suggestions, please post them....

The o-rings are not really round in section like most o-rings. They are flat like a garden hose washer. I have tried lots of things to make old ones seal with no luck.

I have to agree with 6768rogues . You can't really substitute. You might be able to find the correct size but unless it is the exact demensions, it's gonna leak..

I believe Auto Zone will sell the Eaton seal kit for around $11.00. I bought a kit sometime last year.

Great to know.... I will go over the NAPA for that gasket.  Do you happen to know the kit part number for the Eaton?
