Eaton P/S Swap to ? ( Saginaw) Classic327V8

   Howdy Everybody, I have a 1965 Rambler Classic 770 Convertible with a 327. I am having an issue with a leaking P/S pump reservoir can. Currently it has an Eaton Pump with an external catch can that was rigged to connect to the org pump. Drips all the time and its to much for the shipping company that I have to use.  

Two Things, Does anybody know where to get a new Reservoir for the old two part eaton's OR will a newer PS pump work. lets say a uni-body 73 spirit. My dad has a few inline 6 cars in the field and  I would have no issues of taking one of these and trading it in on a reman but what to find out if the pump will do the same job/moving fluid like to the old Eatons...

Need help to get the car's leaks fixed so I can ship it over to Germany to enjoy the weather over the next 4 years...

Will try to get pictures loaded up on here soon,, Running around on Leave with my Wife on our Honey Moon that has taken 1.5 Years to have enough time to take do to US Air Force..

	Go to: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php Click on American Motors Click your year, model etc Click on Steering Go down the list to Power Steering SEAL Kit This might help. Rock Auto is a good source of info on what works where. Their INFO, part numbers will give you what other applications a part was made for. Nick

	Thanks Nick, the problem is that I don't have a reservoir and I need to get a complete unit, They never sell them with the reservoir. So My goal is to find a newer one that will work they has the built on one, like the later model AMC's

	For shipping you can bypass the power steering. Just disconnect the hoses and loop them on the steering box. Will be hard to steer, but can be steered without leaking. You can remove the pump altogether.

	Thanks Frank that might be the quick fix for now. I would still like to find out if any of the other power steering pumps with built in Reservoir would work from a later model V8. if anybody has that knowledge it would be a huge help... One more day to work on it then I leave to head back to Germany :( will have to wait on the car for a while now....

	I don.t have any gen 1 motors to compare to but I think I have a reservoir off of a 71 jeep I don't need. Let me find it and I think next weekend I will be at a friends that has a marlin I can compare it to. If I think it will fit you can have it. Send me a pm so I don't forget. Roger

	As far as pressure a later model pump will work. Can't say about fitting the brackets and hoses though. You may have to change those to the later models style as well.

	I get the car back Mon Morning and I have a PS Pump from an Early 70's AMC that I am going to try to match up the brackets and see if they will work Will let you all know.

	OK so here is the latest update. The Saginaw PS pump from the later md car will not directly fit due to the bracket and the location of the High pressure hose connection hitting the exhaust. So as of today the car is sitting in a Drag/Circle racing shop that likes to tinker. They are going to figure it out next month when they have time. Soo unless I can find a reservoir soon I am on a holding pattern for shipping. Also the Transmission cooling lines are pretty banged up has anyone used Aluminium to create new direct lines to the cooler in the radiator. Any thoughts, the Shop says it can make them in a snap just figured I would ask ... One last? The front Shocks for a 65 Rambler Classic are made from Unattainable from what I can see. The Monroe Shock #'s do not cross reference with the Napa #'s and Monroe seems to have disappeared, any ideas? Todd Edited by Kamikazi02 - Mar/30/2012 at 6:02am

	Just a Fun Note. Just looked at my Serial Number I have the 500th classic 327 built from what I read. Serial Number U100500 thought that was pretty cool and easy to remember. Only thing I am upset about is the Drivers Door was replaced and has an incorrect 2 door 550 on it...so I will have to figure that out the hard way. things I do know. Factory AC PS and FM radio 327 4V with 3 Spd auto. I added the Power Brakes to it. only thing I could ask for would be twin stick floor shifter Auto. ahh fun times to be had.
