Understanding is AMC used Delco Distributors from 1967 to 1974.
Have application info for what AMC Part No. Delco Distributor was used in what engine
from 1967 to 1973, lack the info for 1974 AMC cars, but have the info for 1974 Jeep.
Unaware if 1974 Jeep info is the same as 1974 AMC car info.
1967-72 info is from the AMC Illustrated Parts Manual.
1973 info is from the 1973 AMC Technical Service Manual.
1974 info is from the 1974-5-6 Jeep Illustrated Parts Manual.
Looks like a total of only (15) different Delco Distributors were used at this point.
It's a lofty goal to eventually maybe even gather for each of the (15) Distributors
what the stamped numbers were on the Point Cam Pole Piece and Main Shaft Center Cam
both of which effect the rate and total amount of Mechanical Advance.
Have (6) distributors, (4) different stamped numbers with
CCW524, CCW530, CCW534, & CCW536 Point Cam Pole pieces, and
51W, 71W, 150W, and 250W Main Shaft Center Cams.
Here's how the chart looks at this point minus the 1974 AMC car application data.
If someone could provide the 1974 AMC Car Delco distributor number to engine application
info from a 1974 Technical Service Manual or Illustrated Parts Manual this chart
could be completed showing all V8 Delco Distributors used on AMC cars from 1967 to 1974.
Thanks to All Forum Members for All Additional Info.

CHART REVISED:  Rev-3: 04-19-18, Rev-2 04-06-18, Rev-1 08-20-2011
Note from ramblinrev: The Type 1 and 2 for '70 390 are reversed. Type 1 is the dual diaphragm used on very early 390's. The Type 2 would be the single diaphragm used on most '70 390's.

Thanks hurst390sc for the '74 TSM info.

Chart revised and updated, appears 1974 AMC car and Jeep info matched.
1972 info from 67-72 parts manual lacks specific 304 auto / manual application, have "?" in chart.

With forum members help, more of the Center Cam and Pole Piece data could be filled in.
I have on-hand (4) of the (15) different Distributors, that info is in the chart.

Anyone who would be so kind as to provide Center Cam and Pole Piece info
for the remaining (11) Distributors would help to complete to data in the chart.
Or for that manner any of the Distributors to confirm existing values in the chart.

Forum Member help filling out the chart is greatly appreciated.
Ounce completed, could maybe post it as text so folks could copy, paste, save, and edit.

Center Cam stamped number is easy, visible when Rotor Button is removed.
The '69 343-4V I have has no number stamped on the Center Cam, have "n/a" in chart.

Point Cam Pole Piece stamped number is more difficult, need a mechanics mirror if in a vehichle.

Per 67-72 AMC and 74-5-6 JEEP parts manuals on-hand, all use the same Advance Weights
but each of the (15) Distributors have specific Advance Weight Spring part numbers.
Interesting to see what engines used what parts and how much mechanical advance.

Thanks y'all for any help with info to fill in the chart.

Pictures of (3) different Pole Pieces / Point Cams showing stamped number that indicates
total amount of available mechanical advance, different advance limiter slot lengths visible.
Second picture of (6) different Distributors using (5) different number stamped Center Cams.
Visible difference in Center Cam shape which determines advance curve profile, linear or not.
For GM HEI Distributors there are something like (437) different possible combinations.
Have yet to find number of possible combinations info for Delco Points Distributors.

Don't forget that the vacuum advance mechanisms had their own part numbers too.  Had specific numbers for different engine applications.

Nothing is easy is it.

Yes, and there's some great detailed aftermarket replacement Vacuum Advance Canister part number and specifications for both Delco Point Type and HEI Distributors out there on the web written by a retired engineer.  Have created a line graph chart for a select few of the Vacuum Advance Canisteres used on the Delco Points type Distributors.  Perspective of information and data is slanted more towards performance modification than pure stock recreation or restoration which is available in the TSM's for any given stock application.

And as TorqueyAMX pointed out when working with Pertronix on the Pertronix III kit the Point Plate in an AMC Delco Points Distributor is configured differently than a Chevy Delco Points Distributor requiring Pertronix to include and adapter in the PIII kit to fit the unit to an AMC Distributor iirc.

I checked my spare dist.  don't know what it came out of....but nos. are: pole piece-718 ccw,  center cam-250 W, barely make out the body no. 1111987,  I believe.  Also the no. 37 is on the weights, Vac says- M364   20   so....looks like maybe from a 70 360? Hope this helps!
