I'm new to the forum and I just bought a 62 Rambler American. Pretty much original and runs great. The first thing I want to do is a power front disk brake swap. It has the original manual drum brakes. Are there kits out there for this car? I was on Scarebird's website and they have a bracket and info for doing a swap. Is there a stock or aftermarket power brake booster I can swap on too? I know pretty much nothing about these cars, but its an awesome looking project car.

I just did the Scarebird conversion on a 58 American and am quite happy with the results. You may not need power brakes unless you just want to use your toe. Maybe you do the brakes first and see, then do the booster as phase 2.
I ordered parts from Rock Auto per the instructions and after purchase of some bolts and a lot of head scratching over the instructions it went together easily and I'm happy.

I did the Scarebird swapon a 62 classic wagon. You will not need power brakes.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to look more into scarebird. Good to know I won't have to worry about power brakes either.

I used the Scarebird setup with no isssues other than finding a wheel to fit. I ended up using Dodge steel wheels that have a deep offset. I aslo used a dual master cylinder from Engineering Components that has remote fills. Its a cast iron GM piece with a 7/8 bore for extra push. No need for power with this set up.
