I'm looking at my factory Eagle dash and wondering about some of the lamp inserts that I've never seen come on. I had to look through the back end to see a print in some of the locations to figure out they're there. My Eagle is a 2CCCK vin so it was a 258+3spd. It shouldn't have an upshift lamp but it does. How many automatic issued Eagles were like this? Was it a lazy engineering thing for quick production? Reason I ask is I don't think it's the case. I'm looking at some other dash pieces I want to use as replacements from Concords and Spirits but they do NOT have these and they were all autos.

Cost cutting during production. A "one size fits all" dash is cheaper to make than several. Only 1 part and parts bin on the assembly line, so no mistakes during assembly. Just don't use the holes that aren't needed.
