On a '67 rebel convertible with a 6 cylinder, will a V8 go in the crossmember ok by just using the correct V8 engine brackets?, or is the crossmember different, needing bigger modifications to fit the V8?
Thank you, Walt

The crossmember itself is the same,  but the stands that the motor mounts bolt to are different,  and those stands are welded to the crossmember.

Bulltear makes some conversion motor mounts that allow you to  put a V8 on a 6 cylinder crossmember.

The Bulltear mounts are made for the small body cars (American and Hornet derivatives). I don't think they will work in the big cars, but they might. Hmmm... probably not. The big cars have engine block brackets that are about 1.5" away from the block. The small car block brackets are only about 1" tall. So the Bulltear mounts would be too short. You could use them by making spacers between the block and mounts though.

V8 cross member is the way to go, they are pretty common (any V8 mid-large car will have one) and should be cheap enough. Once you have the motor out, changing the cross member is not much more work (6 bolts).

Yeah, big car V-8 crossmembers are pretty common, the small car CM is not.
