i am going to put 1 piece axles in my Matador they want the block removed it is a 1 piece posi unit how do you remove the pin to get that block out do not see any roll pins holding it in

If yo look at the inside edge of the spider where the pin goes through you will see two snap rings next to each gear. A c-clip that locks onto the cross shaft.

I have not had a problem with them. But I usually am working on the bench with them. They are a type that could go flying and never be seen again though. You need to push on both ends at the same time and move the clip just far enough to get a pick under it. If you push to far the clip will go flying.

I understand that the carrier must be removed to drive the block/pin out which isnt that big a deal.... With the mosers the spacer block is no longer needed. You could also put your nice new Mosers on a chop saw and cut off a 1/8 inch slice if your feeling brave. I have done that with some Mosers that were slightly long on a Ford 9 I assembled

the axles are Doctor Diff they have to be cut anyway they are made to fit all AM20's and are a cut to fit axle

if i remove the cross pin and the spiders fall out will the clutch packs on the axle gears come apart ?

If cut-to-fit, just cut them so there's clearance to the thrust block.
If the bearings that come with the axle shafts are positively located to the seal shoulder in the housing end, shouldn't need much clearance if ends are cut square. If the bearings aren't positively located, what keeps them from moving around and causing brake clearance issues? The thrust block may be good to keep if the bearings aren't positively located from moving inward in the housing ends, but would want to set endplay like stock. Hope this helps,RD |
