So I gather finding one of these would be like finding rocking horse poop.

Have you tried the wanted section and the vendors?

A machinist could make one but it would take a while.

I'll assume a model 20? Check out the early 8 3/4 Mopar.

Try Dr. Diff power lock kit for dana 44 and mopar 8 3/4. The amc twin grip is made by dana and I may be wrong but the dana 44, mopar sure-grip and AMC twin grip can share some parts. Just a thought, if you call Dr Diff they may sell the cross shafts separate. I have sure grip taken apart now in my garage and can take some measurements when I get home from work if you think it will help.

In a pinch a professional weld repair might work.

I'm asking for someone else who has a broken one. I did see that they are available for Dana 44, but didn't know if this was the same centre as used by AMC in the AMC20.

The AMC 20, Dana 44 and Mopar 8 3/4" are extremely similar in design...all Dana designed....so they do share some parts...Dr. Diff would be your best bet....the ONLY guy to go to get correct AMC 20, 2 piece carrier repair kit and great prices.
