Was the water pump on a '65 Classic 232 painted Rampart Red like the rest of the block?

Are there any photosets of a complete '65 232 painted in all the correct colors?

Thanks

I've seen an early 1970s 232 that was never installed in a car and never ran. The water pump was painted black and the thermostat housing was bare aluminum. Most engines I've seen had the water pump painted the same color as the block. Nobody is probably going to know the difference at a show.

They were painted engine color at the factory. That engine FSJunkie saw was probably purchased as a factory replacement and assembled at the dealer, or a reman. Many of those came without accessories, as pre 65 Americans used a short water pump, and there was more than one water pump/heater hose configuration over the years on all. Sending motor without water pump meant you installed whichever you needed. Same with T-stat housing, though most early motors used a stamped steel housing from the factory.
